About This

• Habitat: Swamp Milkweed thrives in wet environments like swamps, marshes, and along the edges of ponds, streams, or ditches. It's native to North America, particularly in the eastern and central regions.
• Appearance: This perennial plant grows to about 3 to 5 feet tall. It has narrow, lance-shaped leaves and produces clusters of pink to mauve flowers, though white varieties also exist.
• Ecological Role: It's an essential plant for monarch butterflies. The leaves serve as a primary food source for monarch caterpillars, and the plant is crucial for their reproductive cycle. It also attracts a variety of other pollinators like bees and hummingbirds.
